Simple Water Filtration - Filter Air Bersih
Sources of clean and clear water are increasingly rare and their distribution is uneven. One alternative to getting clean water is from wells or rivers that are not contaminated with chemicals, namely by making simple water purification that uses the resources around us. The purification is divided into the first stage in the form of sediment/sedimentation and the second stage in the form of filtration/filtration.
Well/river water that is not contaminated with chemicals.
Seeds of Moringa (Moringa oleifera) or Moringa stenopetala, Hibiscus sabdarifa, tamarind (Tamarindus indica) and Cajanus cajan, to precipitate mud and water particles in exchange for alum Gravel, as a filter material and helps oxygen aeration.
Sand, to reduce the deposition of mud. Charcoal, as a soft particle absorber, absorbs odors and colors present in water. Fibers, to filter out particles that can escape from the initial arrangement and even out the water that is pouring out. 200 lt plastic drum/barrel/cement tank.
Prepare a water reservoir. Make a faucet at a height of 10 cm from the bottom side, for each drum / barrel. The faucet is connected to a 30 cm paralon flow which is given a hole and bundled with mosquito netting. The paralon flow is on the inside of the drum/barrel.
Wash some filter materials such as gravel, charcoal, sand and fibers until completely clean, dry. Arrange the filter material starting from the bottom side up in a row of fibers (15 cm thick); sand (10 cm); pebbles (10 cm); palm fiber (5 cm); charcoal (15 cm); sand (10 cm); gravel (10 cm); fibers (5 cm); sand (10 cm); and gravel (10 cm).
Remember, the arrangement must be tight and even, there should not be a cavity between the arrangement. Make a wooden support for the steps. The height of the first step is 50 cm and the second step is 170 cm (equal to the height of the drum). Arrange the 2 drums / barrels in stages. The first drum/barrel is placed on the first step (for the filter).
The 2nd drum/barrel is placed on the 2nd step (for clean water reservoirs). Look for and collect Moringa seeds that are old, ground to a powder. For 200 liters of water, 200 g of Moringa seeds are needed. Add the water to be purified in the reservoir. Sprinkle the Moringa seeds gently and stir well, wait until it settles.
After settling, the water is distributed. Flow water from the first drum/barrel to the 2nd barrel. The water that comes out first, previously dirty and after a while will be clear. After clearing, just loaded into the 2nd drum/barrel. Before drinking the water must be boiled or sterilized with SODIS. After a while (approximately three months) the water that comes out is not clear again, meaning that the filter needs to be replaced or washed again (equator/rif).
